Tips

Making it work for your guests

Write the address in full

In an emergency, guests need to read the exact address to the operator, including flat number and building name. Don't assume they'll know it.

Name real locations

"Under the sink, behind the bin" is useful. "In the kitchen" isn't. Check every location by actually looking for it.

Translate it

An emergency is the worst moment to read a second language. A digital version that guests can read in their own language is worth having alongside the printed sheet.

Make it digital

Send it before guests arrive, in their language.

Paste this template into a free GuestIntro guest manual. Guests open it from a link or QR code, read it in any of ten languages, and you update it in seconds when a code changes.

Questions

Common questions

What should a vacation rental emergency sheet include?
The local emergency number, the full property address, nearest hospital and pharmacy, host and backup contacts, and the locations of the fire extinguisher, first aid kit, alarms, water and gas shut-offs and fuse box, plus short instructions for fire, leaks, gas and power cuts.
Where should I put the emergency information?
Somewhere visible and permanent, such as inside a kitchen cupboard door or by the main entrance, and also in your digital guest manual so guests have it on their phones.
Is an emergency information sheet required?
Requirements vary by country and city, and some local short-term rental rules do require posted emergency and fire safety information. Check your local regulations; the sheet is good practice either way.
